Initial communication assessment
To establish the needs of the child or adult concerned we discuss any concerns you may have as well as take a case history and any relevant background details.
We use a range of therapeutic approaches that best suit the individual to conduct a professional assessment.
Our therapy sessions consist of direct therapy, face-to-face contact and indirect time, involving individual programme writing (which includes specific targets, strategies and advice), resources and essential case note writing. These sessions can be provided in your setting, be that family home, school, residential/supported living service or day centre.
A report including the results of the assessment and our recommendations is provided.
Additional services available at extra cost*:
- Attendance at meetings such as annual reviews
- Additional reports (eg. review reports, summary reports)

Dysphagia assessment for adults with learning disability
We first discuss any concerns you may have for the adult who has been referred, as well as take a case history and any relevant background details during an initial telephone screen. The clients needs will be determined and the referer will be advised as to the urgency of the difficulties described.
A professional assessment of the swallow is carried out by a dysphagia competent Speech and Language Therapist, during meal time. This involves observation and some minor examination of the mouth and throat.
A report including the results of the assessment is provided. Dysphagia guidelines also provided where necessary.
Additional services available at extra cost*:
- Follow up visits to the home
- Monitoring forms and training for food texture modification where necessary
- Contact with GP or other community services

Speech and language therapy for schools
We offer speech and language therapy contracts to schools located in the London area. If you would like to work with us, we are happy to discuss your requirements and provide you with a quote.
